I heart Harrison Ford!

I have had the privilege of shooting at the red carpet at the SBIFF Kirk Douglas award event.

Harrison Ford received an award for his lifetime of excellence in acting. There were many celebrities (like his beautiful wife Calista Flockhart) there and I was able to get some really awesome shots.

If you would like to see them check them out on my website!

Baking keeps him going

My great grandfather, 98 years old, still as sharp as a tack. His hearing is going but other than that he is doing great!

He always loves to play cribbage, loves baseball, and of course the Iowa Hawkeyes will always be his team.

I was so excited to hear he was making his sweet bread that I had to rush over and take pictures of him.

I love my great grandpa! He is so cute!

Dancers Part Deux

All I can say is I heart fine art... ahhh rhyming...

After a full fun day of making my handmade photo book I am sooo excited to see these dancer photos in the book and finished. I am so so proud of these photos and have been looking forward to a book like this since I started Brooks.

Thanks R for being such a great sport and jumping in a sticker ridden field!

Dancers part 1

"You can dance anywhere, even if only in your heart." ~Author Unknown

I miss dancing very much. This quote has great meaning to me. I wanted to blend my old passion with my new passion. Now that I can't dance, I am photographing dancers

Anastasis is a professional Christian Ballet Company based out of the central valley. I have had the privilege of dancing with a few of them when I was a ballet dancer. Their group is about praising God through dance. Some people pray, some people sing, these girls dance their hearts out for God.

For the Love of Infrared

The trek to Knapps castle was a little hard. But thankfully I have my wonderful boyfriend to help me up there.

I am really happy with the outcome of the photos and experimenting with Infrared was very inspiring. Thanks A and L for being my lovely models!

America's Gothic House

I have always loved old buildings and the history behind them. The more history, the more inspiring.

I have family in Iowa and I always love shooting in the mid west. The buildings are still there and they are not covered up by new buildings surrounding them. It's almost like going back in time with some of the buildings I have seen...

We all know Grant Woods' historical take on the mid west in the 1930's

The building of this infamous photo is actually in Eldon, Iowa. My dad loves to just drive around so we got to stop at it for photos while we were in the area.

This Gothic window is the icon of mid west America during the depression. I don't think I know anyone that doesn't know this photo. Grant Wood was not necessarily liked by mid westerns when he painted this photo. They thought that it was derogatory and that Wood was insulting them. We know now that he was just making a statement, not an opinion. But it's interesting to hear that background story. The great painters are always ahead of their time and often disliked...

Enough of my history lesson...
I am glad I was able to get a shot of this house that I was really happy with.
